The best luxury lingerie is more than just fine materials and stellar craftsmanship. It is an Experience with a capital E. It thrills, excites, and seduces the senses. It is a feast for the eyes and the flesh. Edge O'Beyond is such a label. Decadent lace bras and knickers are transformed into showcase pieces through the innovative use of detachable jewelry chains that turn the body into works of art.
Edge O'Beyond had a smashing debut last year, earning a spot on our list of the top five brands to watch in 2014. Its sophomore collection retains the distinctive point of view the brand is known for, yet there is a maturity in this season that is exhilarating and bodes well for Edge O'Beyond's future. Designer Naomi De Haan was architecturally inspired for AW15, translating exceptional laces into graphic silhouettes that transcend pretty to exude strength and confidence.
Shades of blue are a major trend this Fall, and Edge O'Beyond incorporates an exceptionally beautiful midnight-colored French Leavers lace in its Lily rnage. A three-part plunge cup is designed to show off décolletage by framing it with lush scalloped lace. The coordinating knickers are split at the center back seam and fastened with a row of tiny buttons. Optional gold chains fasten to fan around torso and hips adding textural, design, and sensory interest (I'm thinking those chains feel fabulous swaying against skin).
The Rachel range features a gorgeous bodysuit with a patchwork effect of textured lace. Seams mirror the deep V of the neckline and point to the waist for an hourglass silhouette. Along the waist are opportunities to attach loops of chain to form a swingy belt that is just begging to be shimmied. The Violene range includes a cheeky layered bra that incorporates golden lace over a half cup of mesh, for a play on transparency and opacity. I love when the body becomes an integral part of the design like this. The coordinating garter belt comes to geometric points that mirror both the bra cut outs and the triangle cut out on the ouvert knickers.
The standout range from the collection is the Louisa. Capitalizing on the embellished cup trend, the range includes a knockout bodysuit that is comprised of a separate top and bottom that attach with swan hooks. This allows for a customized fit (great news for those of us who historically have issues with bodysuits fitting properly due to a larger top or bottom). Strapping and illusion tulle create an intricate web of lines and arcs across the body in such an arresting way. So much fun! The icing on the cake? French lace cherub appliques on the cups and panty front.
The Lily set is available now on Edge O'Beyond's ecommerce site. The range was also picked up by Journelle. Additional ranges will be rolling out over the next few weeks, with the entire collection available in early September. Bras are available in band sizes 30-36, with UK cup sizes A-E. The remainder of the collection is sized XS-XL (fitting a 32-42" hip and UK dress sizes 6-16). Pieces start at $80 for a lace thong and go upwards of $765 for the Rachel bodysuit with chains.
