Lingerie of the Week: Morgan Lane Organic Cotton "Maebelle" Tank

There's a lengthy list of historical lingerie techniques I adore: corset flossing, crystal pleating, lace appliqué...and insertion lace.

A once-popular design detail from the first half of the 20th century, insertion lace has gradually faded out of favor, primarily due to manufacturing costs. While indie brands like Evgenia Lingerie have long been known for their use of this technique, I'm glad to another name to that very short list.

The Maebelle Tank by Morgan Lane is whimsical, playful...and almost a touch too twee. Reminiscent of a modern day, updated Edwardian corset cover, it feels a bit like the lingerie Anne of Green Gables may have taken in her bridal trousseau on her honeymoon with Gilbert Blythe. And I suppose I'm getting a little old myself, because even though Morgan Lane has been on all the fashionista's radars lately, this is the first piece that's gotten me truly interested.

However, just in case, like me, you need a little more convincing, this tank is also eco-friendly and made from 100% pure, organic cotton in a GOTS certified factory.

While this deliriously cute cami would be obviously perfect as a bridal or honeymoon gift, I confess I'm looking at it for a bit of summer fancy...and perhaps the next Knicker Coven gathering as well.
