As I mentioned on the TLA Patreon a little bit ago, one of the things I've most missed doing this year is lookbook features. Especially in an environment where it seems like the news is constantly depressing, lookbooks are a form of escapism, a retreat into a fantasy world of silk and lace and pretty underthings. I know I've found myself yearning for escapes from reality. And when I saw this lookbook from Harlow & Fox, and I felt exactly that. As though I'd taken a break, however brief, from the grind of the world we live in. And we all need that.
Harlow & Fox's Autumn/Winter 2018 collection is a tour de force, a luxurious culmination of a direction the brand's been moving in since the very beginning. Caramel-colored silks, metallic peacock embroidery, ostrich feather trim, embroidered gold velvet, and bespoke silk prints are just some of the embellishments this season has to offer. And it's wonderful to see Harlow & Fox fully embrace this opulent, sumptuous aesthetic, holding nothing back. The photos themselves are a feast for the eyes, encouraging the viewer to zoom in - meditate, almost - on the details.
As someone who isn't within Harlow & Fox's bra size range (which is, of course, fine as they're a DD+ brand), I find myself focusing on the robes. The vivid blue and gold floral of 'Nova' robe is a particular favorite, as are the dripping gold beads of the Cassiopeia robe. But would I say no to anything from this collection? I doubt it.
