Stars and Jewels: The Wearable Lingerie Art of Rosie von Boschan

I named myself "The Lingerie Addict" almost as a joke years ago, but the more I write about lingerie, the more I realize there are some genuinely addictive elements to what I do. I'm always looking for another fix, another high, another label to revive those feelings of wonder and awe I had almost constantly when I first became interested in intimate apparel back in 2008.

That constant search for uniqueness - that thrill of discovery - frequently pushes me in the direction of new and independent designers whose avant-garde and experimental approaches to lingerie prove there are still new things to learn about the world of bras and panties.

One such new discovery is Rosie von Boschan. Rosie's designs (the founder shares a name with her brand) remind me of the Ziegfeld Follies Girls, Mata Hari, and other exotic dancers, models, and courtesans of the first few decades of the 20th century.

Dripping in beads and with a sense of erotically-charged, high drama, Rosie von Boschan's three debut collections - Constellar, The Oyster Girls, and Smoke and Mirrors - are perfect for the stage and screen. Or, if you're very lucky, a most luxurious boudoir.

These pieces are like jewelry for the body, and, while, as we often say on TLA, all lingerie is handmade, Rosie Von Boschan takes that concept to another level. Their handbeaded bodysuits, for example, can take weeks to make. This is lingerie to be adored, appreciated, treasured, and perhaps even displayed.
