This may surprise you, but I don't buy a lot of lingerie anymore. At least, I don't buy as much as I used to when I first started blogging.
Like most people, I have my tried-and-true favorites I buy again and again (such as the Natori Feathers). And also like most people, I'm reluctant to try a new brand if I can't be confident of the fit and quality. There's nothing worse than receiving a set you've been excited about, only to realize the size chart was less-than-accurate...or that the color you saw on screen isn't actually the color of the item.
It's also true I'm trying to be a more conscientious consumer, to do less impulse shopping and more purchasing from brands whose tastes and ethics align with my own. I'm aware that's a privileged position; I'm at a point in my life where I can consider those other factors (not to mention wearing a size that affords me a range of options). That said, it's important to me, as I'm learning more about the industry, to support those lingerie brands doing unique, interesting, or creatively challenging pieces.
Lately I've noticed an interesting dichotomy where people lament that there's nothing new or exciting in stores, then simultaneously proclaim no item of lingerie should ever cost more than $30 or. And, well...unique design, beautiful details and quality construction all cost money. If I want to see more of those qualities (and I do, for a variety of reasons), then that means supporting the companies going against the overwhelming tide of fast fashion and copycat design.
I don't know if I'll get to try all 18 of these lingerie brands this year (I've already purchased from one - Toru & Naoko), but this is my ideal lingerie wishlist for 2018. If I happen to stumble upon a winning lottery ticket or a pot of money at the end of a rainbow somewhere, here is what I would like to spend it on, in no particular order.
