Here in Seattle around this time of year, the sun is up at 5:00 a.m. and setting after 9:00 p.m. While I love those long days (it's still light enough to read by at 10:00 p.m. during the height of summer), they can wreak havoc on your body clock... especially if you happen to have an east-facing window. When I worked nights, which was for much of my professional career, I relied on sleep masks to ensure I could rest during the day. Otherwise, I found myself waking up intermittently starting around noon or so (and completely out of sorts when it came time to work my shift again that night).
From the lingerie side of things, sleep masks are a wonderfully practical boudoir accessory. I wore a flimsy, cheap little thing back when I relied on them, but in hindsight, it might've been nice to splurge on one of the silk satin or cashmere creations shown here. When possible, I'm a big believer in infusing your day with lots of little luxuries.
A fragrant soap, a silky lotion, a warm perfume... these are the sorts of purchases that help to create special moments for literally pennies per day. A sleep mask can have a similar effect. For roughly the cost of a fancy pair of panties, you can end every night in a little bit of well-earned bliss. And if it happens to be part of a matching set? Well, all the better, right?
