I'll be honest and upfront: I was pretty thrilled when this review came through, as NK iMode is a lingerie brand I've seen often in local lingerie boutiques and never had a chance to try. Like many full busted women, I frequently find myself passing display windows of pretty luxury lingerie and thinking "Nope, no way I'll get my boobs into that." I'm so glad I got to try this, because now I'll be going back to feeling adventurous and confident in boutiques rather than pessimistic.
NK iMode is a brand specializing in introductory silk lingerie and loungewear. I'll be focusing specifically on the Morgan chemise build today, but if you want to see the rest of their collection, check out Laurie's preview of it here.
I was given the Morgan Chemise in black to review, in size XL. The construction of the chemise is one of those pieces that either really works for full busted women or is a total disaster: if the stretch lace portion is low quality, you fall out the front. If it's well built with good materials, then it provides a bit of lift and allows for a dramatic bust/underbust difference. I'm currently a 34HH/36H bra size, so I wasn't sure how this chemise and I would get along.
Luckily, it fits incredibly well! While this piece isn't designed to be for full busted women, it's actually a great choice if you want a nice classic silk chemise and don't mind not having any internal support. While this won't give you the same lift as your favorite underwire bra, the stretch lace creates enough support to make you feel both lifted and comfortable. I've had this piece for several weeks now and found it comfortable enough to sleep in - without falling out the sides or the middle if I roll over at night. The stretch lace panel is also strong enough to hold you in place without your breasts falling through the bottom elastic line, which can be a problem in lesser built pieces.
The silk skirt of the chemise is light and comfortable. Silk quality can really vary among brands in this introductory luxury category and the silk that NK iMode uses is much better than a lot of the silk that you see. I especially love how breathable the whole thing is. While it's been cold here recently, I suspect this will be a staple of my summer sleepwear due to lightness and breathability.
I'm definitely ready to hit up my local boutique and check out more from NK iMode, especially pieces that use this same stretch lace construction in the top. While I can't vouch for the rest of the line, full busted ladies should be more than okay fitting into anything with "Morgan" in the name from this line.
