I've been hearing a lot lately about Scandale. While at first I thought they were just another ho-hum shapewear brand (they were founded in 1932, but only just returned to the lingerie scene in 2012), this season's collection is really impressive. To me, Scandale hits that sweet spot between pinup shapewear (garters, girdlcs, corselettes, and the like) and smooth, modern underpinnings (Yummie Tummie, Cass Luxury Shapewear, Flexees, etc.). This is shapewear that also looks like lingerie, but without venturing into the realm of costume for women who aren't into that whole burlesque look.
My favorite piece so far (and the one I will very likely commit to if it's still available in a month or so) is the 'Encore' Dress Slip, retitled by ModCloth as the "Hollywood Femme Slip Corselet." Though I'm a fan of Scandale's 'Harmonie' and 'Sirene' ranges as well, I absolutely adore the the lace accents on the bra and hem of this particular slip dress, and the seaming definitely looks like it would help to cinch me in (which is super-useful if you're a fan of wiggle dresses and pencil skirts). At $150, this shaping slip is certainly pricey, and with relatively few reviews, it's also pretty risky. But I'm starting to think this piece just might be worth taking that risk.
What do you think of Scandale? Have you seen any of their items in person? And if you've tried them on, how did they fit?
