Every Photo Friday is super exciting to me, but this one is really special. For the first time ever, I’m featuring the work of one of my readers, fellow lingerie addict and fashion blogger, Ligeia Noir.
I can’t recall when Ligeia and I first crossed paths, but I’m pretty sure our mutual love of lingerie had something to do with it. Her excitement for art and fashion is nearly tangible, and it’s a great honor for me to show her work here.
I’m no fashionista, but my heart is all aflutter over the Christian Dior Haute Couture Winter 2009/2010 collection. Translated from the French, Haute Couture literally means “high sewing,” and I don’t believe I’ve ever seen such exquisite sewing as what Mr. John Galliano walked down the runway this week.
The revival to a classic, vintage silhouette is all the more appropriate because the original Christian Dior is most famous for the “New Look” he created post World War II, which, after the deprivation of the war, celebrated a return to voluminous skirts and lush underpinnings.
I’ve had tightlacing on the brain ever since I received my custom overbust in the mail this week (which I took a quick photo of here if you’d like to see), therefore it seems appropriate to make corsets (and their close relations, the merrywidow and bustier) my theme for this week’s Photo Friday.
I swoon…
Important Update: Just received confirmation from S.P.A.N.K. that the sale does not apply to customers living in the U.S.A.
Edit: Someone asked for specifics on the legal troubles, and it turns out there’s some naming conflict between S.P.A.N.K. and the U.S. shapewear brand Spanx. This would also explain why they cannot currently ship any items with the old logo to North America. Thanks to La Magia and Knickers Blog for the clarification.

Due to some legal trouble, Sexy Panties and Naughty Knickers (S.P.A.N.K.) has to change their logo. While that’s bad for the company, it’s great news for the consumer as now everything from their old range is up to 85% off.
It is my opinion that the modern panty deserves the same treatment.
So I was flipping through this month’s issue of Marie Claire magazine, and saw these fantastic shots of one of Beyonce’s stage costumes. Stockings, corsets, and garters? I swoon…
